We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a **Veterinary Patient Care Assistant/Receptionist at Batchelor, Davidson and Watson Veterinary Surgeons.**

**Location**:Edinburgh

**Contract**:Permanent

**Hours**:35 hours per week

**Shift Pattern**:Monday - Friday with a 1:4 share of the Saturday 08.30 - 14.30 rota

**About the role**:
Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will be divided between Patient Care Assistant and Receptionist duties:

- Nursing care to patients
- Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
- Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
- Answering phones and booking appointments
- Registering new clients
- Completing insurance forms
- Dispensing medications
- Taking payments
- And most importantly; providing a warm and welcoming experience to our clients arriving at the practice

**What we're looking for in our new Patient Care Assistant/Receptionist**:
We are looking for someone with the confidence, empathy and experience to provide the high standards of care and the personal touch we expect for our patients and clients.
- **Previous Receptionist experience is desired**, veterinary experience is a plus
- **Experience in animal welfare**, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
- Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
- An excellent communicator with strong empathy
- Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
- A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management and operating systems
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
