Management Accountant

I am recruiting for a stable and growing business in the Newport area who is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join its team. Working with the Director of Finance & Head of Finance, the main responsibilities of the role will be to assist inthe production of monthly management accounts for, along with the management and reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts.

Main duties of the role to include -- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual budgets in conjunction with the Senior Executive team.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining all Standard Operating Procedures within their department(s), including but not limited to employee, customer, financial and health and safety objectives.
- Responsible for setting controls relating to the above set standards, enforcing these controls and taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Responsible for implementing key performance indicators for the department based on the controls devised.
- Assisting the Director of Finance with the production of year end Statutory Accounts.
- Responsible for maintaining, setting and achieving training standards in conjunction with Human Resources and within set budgets.
- Responsible for conducting daily weekly and monthly strategic departmental meetings, minuting these meetings and distributing the minutes to the employees.
- Responsible for the development of individuals, whilst promoting the importance of team work, contributing to team building sessions
- Responsible for gathering information as required by the appropriate controls in place to determine achievement of key performance indicators. These controls include customer feedback, employee feedback, management feedback, financial performance and anyother as required.
- Responsible for compiling periodic reports based on the checking process.
- Responsible for taking the results of the evaluation and implementing changes to ensure continuous innovations and improvements are made within the department.
- Responsible for implementing these changes, communicating the changes as required, following up on the changes ensuring all controls and checking processes are in place to evaluate the success of the changes made.
- Responsible for monthly reporting on the success of the changes made.

Experience required -- Educated to at least A level standard.
- Further education in a Finance/Accounting discipline or qualification awarded by a professional body (eg AAT, ACCA or CIMA)
- Fully competent in the use of Excel, to advanced level
- Must be highly numerate and competent in financial analysis.
- Must be able to work independently and use own initiative.
- 2 years minimum experience in a busy accounts/finance environment working to strict deadlines.
- Experience in producing multiple sets of management accounts.
- Production of management accounts.
- Experience of using accounting software packages.
- Exposure to balance sheet reconciliations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
- Special aptitudes (e.g. oral or written skills, manual dexterity, etc.)
- Able to present financial information to non-financial people.
- Must be comfortable dealing with members of staff and management at all levels.
- Must be highly organised and methodical in approach.
- Must possess good time management skills and be able to prioritise own workload, in order to achieve deadlines.
- Must be able to work calmly under pressure.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills, an inquisitive nature and a tenacious attitude.
- Reliable, approachable, helpful, responsive, flexible, adaptable, courteous but firm.
- Professional attitude valuing accuracy and confidentiality.
