We have been appointed as a partner to Thames Water’s 5-year AMP7 capital works programme.
The programme will improve clean and wastewater services to 15 million customers, as well as improving the environment.
This appointment gives MMB direct allocation to a multimillion-pound programme of water and wastewater non-infrastructure and infrastructure projects.
We are looking for talented Ecologists.
Working with the Environmental Coordinator, Site Manager and Design Lead, you will be responsible for identifying and managing the ecological risks through the project lifecycle.

**Responsibilities**:
People:
- Form collaborative relationships with the MMB and Thames Water project teams.
- Engage with the wider Mott MacDonald business and practice to enhance our performance.
- Communicate with stakeholders.
Delivery:
- Identify specific ecological risks throughout the project lifecycle, from solution definition to completion.
- Plan and deliver baseline, or species/habitat specific, surveys, to fulfil project requirements related to EIA and planning.
- Support projects teams to develop ecological risk mitigation measures, with consideration of cost, time, compliance, safety and social.
- Support the Environmental Coordinator to coordinate ecologists from outside of MMB.
- Prepare ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments.
- Review and check specific ecological deliverables at appropriate project milestones.
- Completing assessments of, advising on and promoting project sustainability initiatives.
- Undertake bio-diversity net gain assessments.
- Lead on the liaison with ecological regulators.
- Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, or equivalent, or working towards a professional qualification.
- Personal conservation licence for, or working towards, at least one protected species and experience of obtaining or working under a variety of protected species licences, as well as liaising with regulatory bodies to negotiate and obtain consents.
- Strong knowledge of wildlife legislation including planning processes and HRA assessments.
- Experience of managing quality control processes.
- Able to collaborate and work effectively within a multidiscipline and diverse team, with a proactive approach and growth mindset, with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios.
- Proficiency in report writing skills, displaying high standards with attention to detail and ability to write accurate and concise reports, such as ecological appraisals, survey reports, method statement.
- Full driving licence.
Remuneration:
Salary range is competitive, and commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications.
**Location**:
The role will require occasional project meetings in Reading and undertaking field work in the Thames Valley area.
MMB are an adopter of hybrid working and we are flexible in our approach to accommodating the working patterns of an Ecologist.
