Case Support Worker

At Connection Support our team of staff members and volunteers work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges, with the goals of solving homelessness and achieving independence. We do this through our values of empowerment, collaboration, compassion and taking a personalised approach in all aspects of our work.

Our Adult Homeless Pathway service provides accommodation and support to homeless people over the age of 18. We have a mixture of shared houses across Oxford city, and North and West Oxfordshire, where we can support clients to help them build skills and move onto long term independent living.

We are looking for someone to join the team, who has expereince of people within homelessness, mental health, substance misuse or ex-offenders.

**What you will be doing,**

You will provide people with a planned programme of support, that enables the individual to gain suitable accommodation, build networks within their local community and become ready to find, take on and manage their own tenancy, encouraging independent living and sustained accommodation.

A key aspect of this role is to support your client to develop skills in areas such as rent arrears, debts, budgeting, social isolation, lack of food and utilities or other basic essentials, with the aim of developing independence so your clients can live their best lives and prevent the risk of homelessness arising again.

**Who you are?**

You’re an excellent communicator who finds it easy to build connections with a diverse range of people, it is important that you have experience of working within areas such as homelessness, mental health, social work, alcohol/substance misuse or ex-offenders.

Ideally you will have some understanding of the housing and welfare benefits system, although this is not essential as we will provide training. It is important that you have some understanding of the causes of homelessness, and a willingness to adapt your approach and support to ensure the service provided is individualised.

This is a permanent post, we can offer full time or part time hours, working mainly Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend or evening required, which is rare.

The role is based in Oxford City, however we may require you to work one day a week in Witney and nearby surrounding areas, therefore a drivers licence and access to a car is essential.
