We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers, scientists, analysts, and consultants working across scales from high level strategy and policy development through to feasibility, design, procurement and due diligence. We work in a range of sectors, with a focus on cities, energy, water and transport.

We have a new opportunity for an experienced, intelligent and committed Energy Consultant to join the team undertaking a variety of technical and strategic energy projects. The team is developing whole systems energy modelling approaches, and working for various public and private sector clients.

**Role**

As an energy consultant, you will work as part of a peer group of specialists and engineers, supported by a diverse team of project managers, consultants and senior leaders. The role requires strong content knowledge in the field of energy and the built environment, together with a sound understanding of qualitative/quantitative analysis and excellent report writing and communication skills. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with others.

The scope of work for this role includes whole system energy analysis and techno-economic modelling at a range of scales, from individual development to whole cities and regions.

Your role will include:

- Producing high quality bid documentation, reports and presentations in clear English
- Production of high quality, complex whole systems energy models
- Technical and financial design and analysis of projects
- Delivery of multiple projects across various project development stages
- Preparing and delivering compelling client
- and public-facing reports
- Developing comprehensive strategies and policy recommendations
- Preparing and delivering presentations and/or training to client teams and stakeholders
- Active participation in knowledge and skills networks within Arup and the wider professional community
- Contributing to the corporate sustainability of Arup as a firm.

**Requirements and skills**

**Essential** **Skills and Knowledge**
- Degree qualifications in engineering (mechanical, electrical or chemical) or other disciplines provided that the degree includes a particular focus on energy. Other relevant STEM qualifications will be considered (e.g. statistics).
- Experience of qualitative and quantitative analysis of energy data and trends
- Energy masterplanning, concept design, production of technical specifications, techno-economic analysis, feasibility, procurement and project implementation - at an estate, city, regional or national scale.
- Advising public and private sector clients on options, risks and appropriate actions to make choices and mitigate risks
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and/or python and ability to create complex calculation workbooks
- Up to date knowledge of relevant developments and trends in the energy sector
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
- Some relevant experience in the low carbon energy sector including strategy and feasibility stages.

**Preferred** **Skills and Knowledge**
- Knowledge of current UK climate and energy policy and legislation
- Understanding of systems thinking or complexity theory
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
