The successful applicant will participate in an 11 person SpR rota providing 7-day cover to the acute medicine service (The Acute Medical Unit (Crick and Darwin wards), Same Day Emergency Care unit and High Dependency Unit). The postholder may also participate in the medical take rota, with responsibility for either acute admissions or HDU/ward cover both in and out-of-hours. There will also be opportunities to participate in audit, clinical governance activities and teaching amongst others.

**Northwick Park Hospital**: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country’s top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK
**St Mark’s Hospital**: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease
**Ealing Hospital**: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice
**Central Middlesex Hospital**: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.
We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.
We have eight Consultant Physicians who specialise in Acute Medicine to facilitate the running of the AMU. In addition, twenty specialty medicine consultants have additional clinical commitments within acute medicine. The appointees will work as a member of the Acute Medical team with F1s, SHOs, SPRs and the consultant staff to ensure high quality care of acute medical patients. The acute medicine team is also responsible for care of patients on the medical High Dependency Unit (mHDU and within the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit.
The successful applicant will participate in an 11 person SpR rota, that provides 7-day cover to AMU (Crick and Darwin wards), SDEC and HDU. This rota includes out-of-hours cover (evenings, nights and weekends). The postholder may also participate in the medical take rota, with responsibility for either acute admissions or HDU/ward cover both in and out-of-hours. This rota is covered by 3 registrars out of hours (two for admissions, and one for HDU/ward cover). Acute admissions at Northwick Park are well supported through junior doctor staffing and consultant input and reflect the varying population of Brent and Harrow.
