**KITCHEN PORTER**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Job title: Kitchen Porter

Hours: 7.00am - 4.00pm Monday - Friday
Term time plus 1 week

Reports to: Catering Manager and Head Chef

Prime function: To assist in the arrival of orders and the cleanliness of the kitchen,
whilst maintaining the required standards of safety and hygiene.

**Duties**:
1. To comply with all the appropriate legal, safety and hygiene requirements.

2. To assist, as directed, with all aspects of cleanliness of preparation areas

3. To accept deliveries and check stock

4. To store deliveries away in a timely manner

5. To undertake all aspects in cleaning equipment - walls (up to 6 feet), floors, fixtures and fittings, cutlery, crockery, glassware, etc. according to the cleaning rotas or as required and directed.

6. To receive any training as is necessary to maintain standards.

7. To assist in loading the service counters, as and when directed, and to ensure sufficient supplies throughout the service period.

8. To set the finest example in terms of appearance, punctuality and manner in order to comply with statutory and site regulations pertaining to personal cleanliness and hygiene.

9. To ensure all areas under your control are clean and tidy at all times but especially at end of shift.

10. To ensure the security of all establishments stock, equipment and utensils at all times.

11. To carry out any reasonable request by management.

12. To carry out any pre-service hygiene and safety checks you may be directed to conduct, reporting to management any deviations from the site standard or statutory regulations.

**Infrequent Duties**

1. To report immediately and where possible take action for any incident of accident, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food or other irregularities.

2. To report and where possible take appropriate action about customer complaints or compliments (to reduce the former and increase the latter)

3. To attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary.

- Assist with pupil needs as appropriate during the school day.

**Salary**: £9.98 per hour
