**About the Practice/Department/Team**

Here at Oundle we aim to provide the best care and service to our patients in a busy fast-paced environment dealing directly with the public. This includes dispensing acute and repeat prescriptions & providing advice on medication, health & lifestyle choices and self-care.

We look after 11,000 patients and so it’s a very fast paced working environment and this makes it an exciting and rewarding place to work.

Our dispensary team is a very happy place to work. We all work together as a team and help each other out when needed.

We provide full training and support. Don’t worry if you haven’t worked in a GP dispensing practice before We are all here to support you and help you build the confidence you need.

Our dispensary is a very busy dispensary practice. We dispense medications for patients leaving outside Oundle. We also provide dossett boxes to patients in real need to make sure they take their medications correctly.

**Job Introduction**

Dispensers have the ability to review patients medications at a minimum level, called DRUM and any queries will be sent to the GP to review. In this way the dispensers have the opportunity to show patients care, support and trust.

**This is a fixed term contract of 12 months.**

**What you will do**

As a dispenser your main duties will be dispensing, ordering stock and helping patients with queries. You will be picking medications off the shelf as per paper prescription and ordering stock as you go along when dispensing. When we receive stock we make sure all items received are ticked and Controlled Drug medications are entered correctly in the CD Register and fridge items are stored in the fridge immediately.
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of medication to patients on a daily basis, while prioritising the dispensary workload effectively.
- Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
- Ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked, and a record kept of all financial transactions.
- Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
- Endorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms in a secure manner to the NHS Prescription Services for processing and reimbursement
- Handle stock levels and ensure all drugs are stored in an appropriate manner.

Contribute to joint projects and development work across the Dispensing sites within Lakeside as directed by the Dispensing Lead.

**Essential Criteria**

We are looking for a qualified dispenser with good understanding of following the Practice Protocols. Our dispensary is caring for different types of patients, where customer service and ability to listen are very important. We are a busy dispensary providing our patients with different services. You must be good at working under pressure. Working in a team is very important and gives us the satisfaction and happiness that we all have done a good job together at the end of the day.
- A confident and clear communication style dealing with patients on the phone and in person
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Word and Excel)
- Show initiative and flexibility to support others in the team
