An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Talking Therapies Barking & Dagenham service for an experienced and highly motivated Employment Advisor to join the team. The Talking Therapies Employment Advisors programme is a 2 year initiative to ensure people receive timely access to health support for common mental health problems and integrated employment support so that they avoid long-term unemployment. The principle aim of the Employment Advisor initiative is to create a culture of prevention and early intervention through its integrated work with Talking Therapies by promoting the link between being in work and achieving improved health outcomes.

This role will involve working closely with Psychologists, CBT Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who provide psychological therapies to people with common mental health problems. The post holder will also work with various key agencies to support service users to retain, return to, or secure employment opportunities.

To assist the Senior Employment Advisor in co-ordinating the ongoing integration of the employment programme in the Talking Therapies team and other related community services.

To be responsible for the assessment and management of a caseload of service users who have common mental health problems, and seeking to gain or maintain their employment

To provide individually tailored information, advice and guidance (IAG) to help and support the service users to access and secure suitable employment opportunities.

To facilitate and lead group workshops for service users to improve their employability skills and knowledge.

To actively seek feedback from the service users, Talking Therapies' colleagues and external partners in order to improve the employment service.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum).

The post holders will support the team of clinicians by offering a support service to individuals with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The post holder will have a caseload of clients.
