Design for Manufacture

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Design for Manufacture or Assembly Assistant to join our Research and Development team working from our base in Carnforth. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in manufacturing, particularly with sheet steel and fabrication experience.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in product design and assembly, focusing on the manufacturability and ease of assembly
- Work with sheet steel and perform fabrication tasks
- Utilise welding skills in the assembly process
- Interpret and work from CAD/technical drawings
- Travel regularly from Sunday through to Friday for testing and certification, including into Europe
- Perform physical and manual lifting as required
- Install doors and understand technical aspects of door installations
- The ability to operate manufacturing machinery such as Salvagnini, Amada, or similar
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience in manufacturing, particularly with sheet steel and fabrication
- Experience in the door industry is highly desirable
- Proficiency in welding is desirable
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and technologies
- Strong understanding of CAD/technical drawings and technical documentation
- Technical knowledge of door installations
- Valid passport and driving licence, with confidence to drive in Europe
- Willingness to learn and attention to detail
- Knowledge of door hardware is a plus
- Understanding of a product certification process is desirable

- Ability to install doors
- Ability to travel away from home on a regular basis

**Hours are**: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm, Wednesday 7.00am-4.00pm and Friday 7.00am-2.45pm. With a requirement to travel approximately 13+ weeks a year Sunday through Friday.
