**Salary**: West Sussex Grade 3 £22, 737 pro
- rata, for 5 hours per week (term-time only)

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**The Wraparound Care Assistant is responsible for the delivery of safe, creative, appropriate activities and the general welfare of children in our Before and After School Wraparound Care by**:
- Promoting inclusion and contributing to the overall ethos and aims of the school.
- Upholding the school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and Procedures at all times, ensuring that children are safe and happy.
- Adhering to the school’s Health and Safety Policy by remaining vigilant to all risks and keeping children’s safety in mind at all times.
- Keeping children safe and minimizing risks in the Wraparound Care environment including daily risk assessment checks.
- Being responsible for ensuring the safe arrival of children at the club, and their safe delivery back to parents and carers at the end of each day.
- Planning and preparing safe, creative, appropriate activities, delivered in a fun and caring environment.
- Encouraging children to interact with others and engage in activities.
- Monitoring the needs and behaviour of children, responding to incidents and communicate these to parents and carers, or staff, as appropriate.
- Promoting good behaviour, reporting and dealing promptly with incidents in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy and encouraging children to take responsibility for their behaviour.
- Undertake record keeping, e.g. taking registers, recording incidents and concerns.
- Preparing and serving snacks/refreshments for the children, ensuring that hygiene, health and safety measures are met.
- Administering and recording first aid as appropriate.
- Being responsible for setting up the room for the daily activities, aiding with the care and cleanliness of the room and equipment, including tidying the room at the end of the session.
- Communicating effectively with children’s parents where required.
- Participating in training and other learning activities as required, and engaging with performance development.

The Wraparound Care Assistant will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

The post holder may be required to do other duties appropriate to the level to the role, as directed by the headteacher.
