DT Resourcing are currently working in partnership with U-Educate, a dedicated Supply Teaching Agency helping to improve the education of children by aiding local schools in their search for the perfect staff.

We are currently looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic SSA (Special School Assistant) for a school in Southampton (SO16) - equal to a Teaching Assistant Role - for the Summer Term, working 8:45am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. You will work with upper KS2 children who are currently working at a much lower level than typical mainstream children.

Previous experience of working within a similar educational setting as a HTLA/TA.

A caring and professional manner with your students, both as a group and 1:1.

Be calm, kind, and pro-active with students.

Ability to help with academic work and tasks in a patient manner.

Strong Maths and English skills.

Be fully prepared to engage in the range of personal care which the children require.

Excellent teamwork skills.

The drive and commitment to work as part of a team.

A flexible and positive approach to new challenges and change.

Capable of inspiring and motivating your students academically.

Be reliable, trustworthy and be passionate about teaching

Communicate and liaise with staff and pupils effectively.

Strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with staff, pupils, and parents.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Be computer literate with good IT skills.

**Roles/Responsibilities**:
Working as part of a motivated and enthusiastic team.

Excel in 1:1 work with pupils.

Promote the personal care of all pupils.

Delivering learning activities to pupils within the agreed system of supervision.

Support the teacher by focusing on the students’ needs, adapting to scenarios, and helping the teacher to deliver lessons smoothly and effectively.

Set up any equipment or tech requirements needed in the lessons, ready for use.

Help to keep disruption to a minimum within the classroom.

Endeavour to achieve the highest possible standards in your work and conduct.

Building relationships upon the foundations of mutual respect.

Observe correct and proper boundaries appropriate between teacher and students.

Work proactively and effectively as part of a team with all staff members.

Promote the safeguarding and welfare of young people within the school.

Embrace and promote the school’s ethics and ethos.
