**Racecourse Groundsperson**

Down Royal Racecourse is one of Northern Ireland’s premier sporting venues. Down Royal is now seeking to recruit a Groundsperson to join the team and assist in the provision of a safe and excellent racing surface and facilities for its 14 annual race meetings.

Role to commence immediately.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Assist in the preparation and restoration of the racing surface - grass cutting, replacement of divots, etc;
- Use a wide range of agricultural machinery, tools and equipment;
- Assist in the preparation of fences, hurdles, rails and buildings to meet the highest standards;
- Safe use of fertilizers and weed control substances;
- Preparation of stables, parade ring and general grounds.

**Essential criteria**:

- Knowledge of soil and grass management, etc;
- Ability to operate a range of agricultural machinery in a safe manner;
- Capability to perform routine maintenance of agricultural equipment an advantage;
- Ability to use chemicals in a safe manner;
- Good knowledge of the racing industry;
- High energy, ‘hands on’, creative and self-motivated;
- Strong desire to contribute, learn and grow with an ambitious team;

Full time. Immediate start.
