Next Steps Development is a growing Charity that provides support to individuals with learning disabilities with the aim of promoting skills and sustaining their independence as much as possible in work/training placement and in the community. We support adults with ASD, ADHD, learning disabilities or any other disability. Our aim is to focus on the Ability in Disability. The practical skills we teach our workforce is invaluable for them as these skills are transferable in everyday life aspects. We have multiple sites that cater to different sectors such as Wood workshops, Graphics and Media rooms, Farms, and Charity Shops.
On this occasion, we are on the hunt to find a new support worker to work within our Barnstaple Graphics department so skills, experience or any qualifications within this field would be advantageous.
30 hours at £10.50 an hour

- Be able to exercise good judgment when required & have excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure with mínimal supervision.
- Actively promote a safe working culture by ‘thinking smart before you start’ and leading by example with colleagues
- Help ensure new members of the team adopt a safe culture & help aid individual’s progression through day-to-day coaching and mentoring.
- Cost control & commercial awareness.
- Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness.
- Understand the competency requirements of supported employees & trainees
- Recognising the impact of change on individuals, their carers, and colleagues
- Ensure/promote the support of individuals to have choice and control over their lives
- Ability to understand and contribute to the improved outcomes of individuals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships
- Ability to motivate individuals to achieve outcome and improve independence
- Ability to carry out the required duties of the role (with reasonable adjustments where necessary)
- Concise and factual report writing in a timely manner
**Experience/Knowledge**:
**Essential**
- Experience in a similar environment or role
- Working with support staff to optimise delivery performance
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft word, excel etc.
- Adhering to company procedures, standards and policies and ensuring that all colleagues work towards high governance standards
**Desirable**
- Experience of working with adults who have disabilities
- Experience, knowledge of safeguarding procedures
- Dispute resolution
- Valid UK driving license
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
