Infrastructure Engineer

Salary c£40,000 - £50,000

Gloucester (close to J10 M5) - Hybrid Working

The company provides infrastructure solutions which encompass backup, archive, high availability, storage, compute and networking. They harness leading global vendors to independently architect end-to-end solutions to help business manage and be assuredof their data. Due to growth of their professional services business they are looking to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer.

- Key Responsibilities** The key responsibilities for this role include:

- Responsible for ensuring the successful provision, management, support, and maintenance across the entire infrastructure platform (compute, network, storage) that makes up the companies internal functions and Managed Service offerings.
- Subject matter expertise and act as a 3rd Line escalation point for technical incident and problem management.
- Interrogation of the Service Desk ticketing system throughout the day to provide effective responses and resolutions to queries or issues. Ensuring that raised tickets are responded to within SLA timescales.
- Acting as a senior member of the Service Desk team, providing support and guidance to team members and clients.
- Ensuring all monitoring alerts are investigated and actioned accordingly and managing monitoring platform for internal and client estates within the companies environment.
- Audit, document, and report on all internal and customer infrastructure with the aim to highlight risks and mitigation plans.
- Support end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products by testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting to determine source of problems.
- Instigate and orchestrate changes to the infrastructure systems, in line with the companies and Customer specific change control processes.
- Facilitate, contribute to and in some instances lead, the delivery of technical projects and work packages for the company and its customers.
- Ensure all hardware for project delivery is built in an efficient manner and to the specification detailed ready for shipment to site.
- Ensure hardware serial numbers and software licencing details for projects are stored in the incident management software once hardware is built.
- Ensure the build room is maintained in an orderly manner.
- Comply with all company and ISO policies, audit, and legal requirements such as Health & Safety, Data Protection Act, etc.
- Support the below core technologies:

- Data Integrity & Protection (Backups, Replication & Encryption)
- TCP/IP, VLAN, switching, routing and firewall configuration, VPN and WAN environments
- Security Platforms (Firewalls, Proxy Servers, VPN, Antivirus)
- Backup technologies
- Storage Platforms
- Server Virtualisation
- Endpoint Provision, Security & Support (Imaging, Group Policy Deployment/Management)
- VMware certified (VCA, VCP)
- Microsoft certified (MCP, MCSA, MCSE)
- Cisco certified (CCENT, CCNA)
- Veeam certified
- ITIL Foundation certified
