Become a Trainee Autism Practitioner in Education at our school Barton School, part of Options Autism and start working towards yours.
- ** Salary**:£18,732 per annum - rising to £19,748.88 after successfully completing the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in the Classroom qualification
- ** Hours**: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- ** Contract**:Permanent, Term Time Only
Barton School is a Special Education Needs (SEN) School with accommodation. We provide a holistic service to pupils with Autism and associated complex needs. We provide a bespoke, person-centred service that caters for day or residential education placements.
Barton School is a DfE registered school and OFSTED rated pupils’ home offering a purpose-built service specifically designed to meet educational and development needs of the pupils in our care.
The Site is situated in Barton Upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, we are within easy reach of Barton, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Hull and surrounding towns.
The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each child’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding

As a Trainee Autism Practitioner, you will connect directly with the brilliant pupils that we care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. Each individual has a diagnosis of Autism and may have additional needs. They have so much potential, and they will rely on you to guide their learning journeys bespoke to them.
You will help prepare learning materials and run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and some supervision too. You will take responsibility for their emotional and physical needs, supporting them to develop as individuals and engage with the world.
You will face challenges and overcome them as you flourish and thrive, sharing your skills and learning from others as your career takes you as high as you always dreamed you could go.
Every day will be different, but you will have all the support you need, with lots of skills and experience to draw on along with valuable advice and guidance too.
**Who we are looking for**
You don’t need any experience to join our team. If you come from hospitality, the army, outdoor activity centres or an office-based job but are eager to help vulnerable pupils to live happy, fulfilling lives, this is the role for you. We will provide you with full training and development to succeed within your role.
You will be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outside according to individual need. Taking a responsive and caring approach, you may be running classroom activities, leading outdoor experiences or supervising pupils as they explore further afield.
