An interesting opportunity has arisen in the Planning Department in Pembrokeshire County Council to work within the Development Plans Team. This is the Team responsible for the preparation and monitoring work associated with the Council’s Local Development Plan. Local Development Plan - Pembrokeshire County Council
The main purpose of the role is to provide a full range of technical and research support to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of planning policy. This will be undertaken through the collation and manipulation of data from several sources using Planning databases and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), to evidence progression and future proposals for Local Development Planning.
The work therefore involves sourcing information and making an analysis using GIS as well as providing technical and administrative support; including word processing, data input; spreadsheets; statistical analysis; cartography using GIS; scanning, photocopying; filing, making meeting arrangements and the provision of general office support. All making this both a varied and interesting role ideally suited to someone with extremely strong GIS (Geographical Information Systems) skills, excellent research and analysis skills and a positive approach to working as part of a team, with an interest in developing their skills in this area and making a valuable contribution to shaping the future planning policy in our county.
The post is for 32 hours per week with flexibility to work the hours over 4 days or 5 days a week within core hours around other commitments to suit the postholder, with the requirement to undertake survey work within Pembrokeshire, with possession of a driving licence and access to a car and means to attend such site visits being essential.
So, if you are experienced in using IT and GIS (Geographical Information Systems) with an interest in land use planning, we would love to hear from you. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.
