Data Annotator

Speech Graphics are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team on a part-time, summer internship. As a Data Annotator, you will be responsible for labelling data in accordance with our established guidelines and standards, as well as collaborating with us to develop an efficient annotation workflow. Your contributions will play a vital role in helping us to improve our onboarding process as well as the size and quality of our internal datasets.
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Annotate data following defined guidelines and specifications.
- Collaborate with the annotation team to resolve challenges and ensure alignment.
- Contribute to the training process, providing feedback and suggesting improvements where necessary.
- Participate in regular meetings and discussions to share insights and discuss progress.

**Required Skills**:
- Strong understanding of linguistic principles and concepts.
- Proficiency in working with linguistic tools and software _(e.g. Praat)._
- Familiarity with reading spectrograms.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus during a cognitively-demanding task.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
**Desirable Criteria**:
- The desirable criteria are a bonus and not firm requirements to apply._
- Relevant experience in linguistic data annotation or similar fields.
- Experience of working collaboratively and as part of a team.

Due to the nature of this role, the internship will be office based. You will be working from our Edinburgh office location in the city centre, part-time, 3 days per week.
