Support Worker and Driver

**Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant** who has a full, clean driving licence and excellent listening and communication skills is required to support a member of staff to fulfil their role at a well-established Charity.

**SALARY**:£18,500 - £19,500 pro rata + Excellent Benefits

**LOCATION**:Travel to and from work inPontypool, Blackwood and Torfaen area

**JOB TYPE**:Part-Time, Permanent

**WORKING HOURS**: 24 Hours per Week, 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Wednesday - there are opportunities to work additional hours, up to 30 hours per week. A flexible approach to working hours will be required for this role.

**JOB OVERVIEW**

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant that has a full, clean driving licence and excellent listening and communication skills.

Working as the Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant you will be driving and supporting a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) who delivers orientation and mobility services within the Blackwood and Torfaen area.

As the Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant you will form a close and trusting working relationship with the supported person. Having a person-centred approach, good communication skills and flexibility and understanding are extremely important.

**DUTIES**

Your duties as the Support Worker and Driver / Employee Access Assistant:

- To drive the person supported in order that they may fulfil the requirements of travel in their role
- Providing sighted assistance to the person supported, including orientation and sighted guiding in unfamiliar environments, or other assistance as required
- Assist with basic data input on Microsoft Office include MS Word and Excel, maintain Outlook calendar and maintain accurate and confidential records
- Locate information from a variety of sources, including internet, print and internal systems

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**

**ESSENTIAL**
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Ability to take a person-centred approach, build trust and work in a close one to one working relationship
- Excellent listening and communication skills particularly verbal
- Computer literate with a good knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages and experience using data systems
- Awareness of GDPR regulations
- Evidence of dealing with confidential issues sensitively and with total integrity
- Comfortable working with a Guide Dog
- Eligibility to work in the UK

**DESIRABLE**
- Understanding, and experience of, providing a service or support with a person-centred approach
- Experience of working within a similar role
- Experience of supporting people with disabilities, in a work or voluntary capacity
- Awareness of sighted guiding techniques
