We are looking for a passionate and experienced Finance professional to join RFLPS as Head of Finance, reporting into Managing Director. Sitting as part of RFLPS executive team, this newly created role will
- Contribute fully to the development of RFLPS business strategy and commercial policy
- Be responsible for maintaining the best possible financial controls and structures to enable RFLPS non-finance operational and consultancy functions to effectively manage budgets, streamline expenditure and make well-informed business decisions
- Lead all financial aspects of business planning, commercial analysis of business growth opportunities, scenario testing, margin, competitor analysis etc to provide high quality and actionable insights to support the continued sustainable growth of the organisation
- Support and advise the MD, RFLPS board and executive directors, parent company and our customers in the delivery of operations in line with the agreed financial and performance objectives to achieve long-term best value for the organisation and the benefit of patients
The HOF will contribute fully to the development of business strategy, commercial policy and be responsible for maintaining the best possible financial controls and structures to enable non-finance operational and consultancy RFLPS functions to effectively manage budgets, streamline their expenditure and make well-informed business decisions.
The HOF will lead financial aspects of business planning, commercial analysis of business growth opportunities, scenario testing, margin, competitor analysis etc to provide high quality, actionable insight to support the continued sustainable growth of the company.
The HOF will be responsible the financial management & control for the existing Estates & Facilities spend managed by RFLPS on behalf of RFL Group in line with the Strategic Partnering Agreement.
To support and advise the MD, RFLPS board and executive directors, parent company customers executives, divisional Directors and clinicians in the delivery of operations in line with agreed financial and performance objectives so as to achieve long-term best value for the organisations and for the benefit of patients.
Founded in 2018, RFL Property Services is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Free London Group (RFLS). Our Parent company, the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest Hospital Trusts in the country with over 10,000 employees, a turnover of £1 billion and around 1.8m patient contacts a year.
At RFL Property Services, we act commercially and deliver not only high quality, consistent services across Royal Free London estates and our third-party clients and customers, but also efficiencies by operating at scale, driving new income streams and adding resilience to its existing operational capacity.
Since formation, RFL Property Services has grown from 11 employees to 135 and expanded its customer base and variety of work beyond traditional estates and facilities operations. Our operational teams now manage a revenue budget in excess of £170m across an acute hospital and community portfolio of over 160 properties with a footprint in excess of 400,000 sqm that delivers over 1.5m outpatient appointments and 200,000 inpatient episodes. Our consultancy team, inspired by the vision of building a successful consultancy business through driving valued outcome, innovative and improved health outcomes and patient experience, are involved in a capital investment pipeline programme well in excess of £3bn over the next 5 years for a variety of NHS customers.
Financial Management1. Maintaining adherence to minimum standards and best practice of financial management plus adherence to scheme of delegation
1. Regularly review and effectively manage the financial services SLA between RFL Group and RFLPS ensuring it remains fit for purpose and aligned to RFLPS need, growth strategy and customer base; hold RFLG head of management accounts or supplier of service accountable for meeting prescribed performance and reporting requirements and ensure all financial transactions and management activities inc accounts payable and accounts receivable, monthly balance sheet analysis and cashflow forecasting; annual accounts are appropriately managed - escalate trends of failure or issues having material impact to RFLPS MD and RFLG CFO
1. Maintain and provide stewardship to contractual arrangements to ensure systems and processes are in place to consistently enable the timely and accurate delivery of monthly management accounts, budget information and publication of month end and quarterly profit and loss reports; investigate and provide analysis for variances to income and expenditure forecasts with mitigation options.
