**Job description**:

- You will lead and manage policy on some of the Government’s top national security priorities, working with industry partners and colleagues across government to ensure that robust security and resilience measures are in place across Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) in the Downstream Gas and Electricity sectors. This is a high priority area, commanding Ministerial interest from across HMG.

With our energy landscape changing rapidly, the effects of climate change being felt, and geopolitics becoming increasingly uncertain, ensuring that our energy system is secure and resilient has never been more important. The COVID-19 Inquiry Module 1 Report, recent extreme weather events, infrastructure failures, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine have all heightened awareness of resilience issues and focused Government attention on energy security.

About the Team:
The Energy Resilience team ensures the risks of significant disruption to energy supplies and CNI are understood and effectively handled.

We monitor risks to gas and electricity supplies from hazards and threats, both now and through to 2050.
We provide guidance on how to build resilience and reliability into the Net Zero transition, ensuring energy security in a rapidly changing energy landscape.
We liaise with security experts to ensure our Critical National Infrastructure is protected.
We also provide policy expertise during energy incidents or emergencies and develops risk-specific plans and operational readiness to ensure the Department and energy industry is prepared.

**Person specification**:

- We are recruiting for two senior policy advisor roles within the Downstream Gas and Electricity Resilience team. The team is close-knit, friendly, versatile, and inclusive, with a broad portfolio of work. As part of this multi-disciplinary team, you will lead policy to ensure the security of our gas and electricity networks.

These roles offer a mix of policy, strategy, and operational components, providing an opportunity to craft priorities and be an integral team member as we grow our capability and influence. The team balances a diverse range of policy priorities providing opportunities for varied portfolios. A variety of development and progression opportunities are offered.

Roles Available:
Supply Chains Resilience Lead

As our energy system changes at pace, the supply chains underpinning them will evolve and, in some cases, come under new strains. This can also be compounded by the constantly shifting geopolitical landscape. These supply chains are critical to the effective operation of the downstream gas and electricity sectors, and improving our understanding of them is key in preventing and preparing for any potential risks. In this role you would:

- Lead the development of the Supply Chains resilience workstream for the downstream gas and electricity sectors, playing a key part in shaping and driving forward this work across the Energy Resilience and National Security and Response team.
