Clinical Research Officer

We are looking to appoint a Clinical Research Officer within our team, to provide flexible support to increase the number of patients participating in clinical trials in Hywel Dda University Health Board.
The post will contribute to the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
The post will assess and carry out clinical procedures for patients / participants and will be considered part of the clinical team during the participants’ involvement with the study.
Initially work with supervision with the aim of working autonomously to assist in the management of clinical trial patients.
Assist in identifying suitable patients for entry into clinical trials by screening patient medical records, attending clinics and/or relevant.
Attend Multi-disciplinary Team meetings.
Use relevant clinical knowledge to identify patients suitable for clinical research using inclusion and exclusion criteria and utilising NHS records, visiting wards and outpatients.
Undertake research activities for which you have been trained and assessed as competent in line with the research competencies framework (eg. receiving informed consent).
Carry out physical assessments, taking blood/urine samples and processing according to protocol.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of treatment options, treatment side effects and disease processes to support patients in making an informed treatment choice.
Ensure that trial specific investigations are undertaken as required by the trial protocol and obtain results in order to establish eligibility and safety to enter the trial.
Safely administer the trial related treatments and drugs that are given within the context of a clinical trial.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. **Five community hospitals**: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes.
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
Assess and manage any adverse reactions occurring during treatments as per protocol seeking advice or guidance from specialist nurse or clinician as appropriate.
