**APPOINTMENT FOR MIDDLE GRADE LEVEL FELLOW TO JOIN THE PAEDIATRIC SPINAL TEAM**
Applications are invited for a middle grade level clinical fellow in the **Paediatric Spinal team with general paediatrics expertise.**
This is a new position which has been created in developing our well supported multi-disciplinary paediatric spinal team.
Successful applicants will be expected to work within the medical team and more specifically with a named paediatrician, overseeing the medical care, daily complexities and careful discharge planning of this interesting group of paediatric spinal patients. This is an excellent opportunity to experience working alongside paediatric surgical specialties in caring for patients with post-operative needs. The role is well supported by the critical care outreach specialist nursing team and by an experienced pain specialist nursing team.

**Working for our organisation**:
Queen's Medical Centre of the Nottingham University Hospitals, is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. The Nottingham Spinal Unit is embedded in the Surgical Division together with the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Neurology. There are also very close working links with the paediatric department. Referrals to this service come from across the country but are mainly focussed around the midlands area. The paediatric spinal team currently treat around 90 paediatric scoliosis cases a year. A new 4 bedded spinal unit exists within the paediatric neurology and neurosurgical ward. The MDT team has grown to include a named paediatrician for spinal patients, a dedicated anaesthetic team, a well-established paediatric pain specialist team and highly skilled physiotherapists, occupational therapists and dietitians.
This is a really exciting opportunity to experience how a comprehensive multidisciplinary team work together around the young person and their family and to become an active part of this team and contribute to the patients’ surgical journey.

There will also be the possibility of attending the peri-operative MDT meetings to understand the complex decision making processes involved in offering children spinal surgery.
Opportunities to enhance core general paediatric skills alongside this can be supported as desired by the successful applicant, such as additional evening on call responsibilities, general paediatric outpatient experience and access to internal education and training sessions to support sitting professional examinations.

- Minimum two years’ experience in paediatrics including general paediatrics or paediatric critical care
**Desirable criteria**:
- Experience in paediatric subspecialty relevant to the post.

- Able to work within a team.

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
