Night Porter

We currently have an opportunity at our Peterborough Housing Related Service.

When you start your career with us as a Night Porter the work you do will really have a positive impact on individuals lives. Working in a supported housing project on a 7-day rolling rota you will help provide security and stability to those customers living at our referral homeless hostel overnight to ensure support is available to them and the facility remains safe.

This is a varied role whereby you will be providing support for vulnerable young people who may have to enable them to be ready for independent living. To be successful you’ll need to be a good communicator to build relationships with them and help them with their individual needs.

You will be interacting with residents daily and supporting them, reporting any issues to the Service Manager whilst keeping a log of any events which happen at the scheme. There are times whereby you may need to deal with challenging situations and show resilience, defusing and supporting people overcome these, If you have a professional and calming personality this would be beneficial in helping our customers. You will also be expected on occasions to liaise with the emergency services and complete incident reports if required.

To provide safety to the scheme we will train you how to effectively complete site walkarounds, highlight things to observe and train you how to interact with our residents and how to use and monitor CCTV, there are many things to do each night.

You will play a key role, helping with Health and Safety inspections, matters of compliance and help to maintain the scheme records. Providing you additional learning opportunities you will also be trained to assist with rent account management.

The driving force behind your work will be a passion to help others and to support in providing a safe environment for them. This role is offered on a permanent 35hr per week basis.

**About the Scheme**

The housing related service provides supported accommodation for individuals aged between 16 to 25.

The project is located close to Peterborough City Centre and walking distance to local shops and amenities.

**Vetting Requirements**

Naturally working with our customers, we need to complete pre-employment checks before you join us. This role is conditional upon receipt of two satisfactory references (one from your current employer). We also need you to tell us what you have been up to as a minimum over the **past 5 years** in terms of employment history.
