Heat Network Engineer

Are you a heating specialist who is looking to join an entrepreneurial, growing business with a proven track record of the design, delivery and optimisation of heat networks within the UK? Can you push our low carbon heat agenda within our dynamic and ethically focused UK Consultancy team? Due to continued business growth; we have a brand new role for an experienced Heat Network Consultant. We seek a highly-skilled, credible and forward-thinking individual to work externally with our clients and partners and support our internal team. **Duties will include -** - Supporting our heat network services, design and analysis, and stakeholder engagement for mapping, feasibility, and implementation - Performance monitoring and reporting on heat networks - The design of heat networks across new and existing projects and upgrades - Taking the lead on design reviews, interfacing back with design consultants to ensure that designs are modified to meet specification/industry best practices as required - Writing specifications; reviewing designs; reviewing technical submissions; checking installation against design; witnessing network commissioning; acceptance testing post commissioning; producing models and reports for presentation to clients - Carrying out optimisation studies - Analysing the system-level performance of networks - Evaluating the cost and effectiveness of implementing different types of physical interventions to heating systems and component equipment - Contributing to funding/grant bids - Supervision of plant installation - Helping to grow the heat network consultancy services offered - Acting as a mentor to junior members of the staff - A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or building services engineering - Membership of recognised professional institutions, e.g. CIBSE, IChemE, Energy Institute - Relevant accreditation, e.g. Heat Network Consultant, Low Carbon Consultant - Excellent knowledge of heat network design and ability to lead the preparation of design information - Working knowledge of current and emerging guidance/regulation, e.g. CP1 Heat Networks Code of Practice, Heat in Buildings Strategy and related code of practice, CHP, heat pumps - Knowledge of the Energy Services marketplace > Working knowledge of property energy standards tools, e.g. building regulations (Part L), SAP, SBEM - Ability to drive in the UK (for site visits, and client meetings) - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with evidence of working with senior staff in public and private organisations - Proven experience in a similar consultancy role - Experience with heat networks across the UK including funding, market regulations, design and operation standards and improvements, monitoring and reporting of KPIs, network improvement suggestions and an understanding of control strategies - Working experience within heat networks or closely related energy/building services sectors - Working on implemented/operational district heating projects - Energy Option studies / Energy Audits / Heating feasibility or design studies - Modelling of complex problems using software tools including MS Excel - A passion for sustainability and the role that heat networks have in decarbonising the UK and in helping the challenge of climate change - Salary: £45000-£55,000 plus company benefits Kelly Services are acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this role.
