TEC Partners are working exclusively with an innovative engineering business in London, who are on a mission to help the livestock industry reach net zero emissions through technological transformation. The product integrates innovative emission-mitigationtechnology with data monitoring capabilities which in turn enables companies to drastically cut emissions.
As part of their growth strategy, they're looking to hire a Head of Chemical Engineering to lead the chemical engineering function (a small team of 3) with ongoing, specialist product development projects.
Working closely within the wider R&D team (across Mechanical Engineering, Hardware and Animal Science) you'll lead system-level efforts that support the safe and efficient oxidation of methane emissions.
What you'll be doing...
- Design an oxidation system, working closely with the Mechanical Engineering team
- Lead and mentor a team of Chemical Engineers and Chemists
- Work closely with the Head of Product Development to define key priorities and milestones
- Ensure work prioritises function and safety
- Sett up testing capabilities in-house, leading all testing relating to catalysis, heat exchange and fluid dynamics
- Monitor team progress and deliverables, working closely with Senior Project Managers
- Create, execute, and update project plans
- Identify risk, talent gaps and needs for additional resources
- Identify and escalate issues, where necessary
What we're looking for you to have...
- A degree in Chemical Engineering (or similar)
- Proven experience working in Chemical Engineering roles
- Methane catalysis (PGM and Base-Metal) experience or knowledge
- Experience with experimental setups and preparing labs for testing
- Experience designing natural convection cooling systems
- Experience with thermo/fluid simulation packages
- Knowledge of lab-view or similar software
You'll be an enthusiastic, natural leader, with a strong chemical engineering background and practical problem-solving skills, who is motivated to be part of a start-up/scale-up environment.
Additional knowledge or experience in mechanics and/or animal science would be highly sought after, as well as exposure working with agriculture or technology companies.
