Technical and Learning Support Officer

Casual contract until June 2025

7.2 hrs per week over 1 day, mostly Wednesdays

Term-time only

£18.09 per hour plus holiday pay

The School wishes to appoint a Technical and Learning Support Officer who will work closely with the lecturers across the Sports Journalism MA and International Sports Journalism MA programmes. They will provide students with in-class support for a Digital Sports Journalism module, out of class technical support, live news day support plus manage the programmes’ dedicated technical equipment stored in the library lockers.
- Educated to a good standard e.g. A-Levels, BTEC or equivalent
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Computing or Media or related discipline
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, Operating Systems (Mac OS, Windows), mobile devices
- Good working knowledge of end user support of desktop, device management and AV equipment
- Good working knowledge of multimedia editing tools such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Suite: (Premiere, Photoshop), Audacity etc.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with logical and sensible approach to task
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good problem solving and analytical skills
- Good time management and ability to effectively prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with stakeholders who have no technical knowledge
- Self-motivated and adaptable with a can-do attitude
- Supportive team player
- Good organisation skills with the ability to multi-task and cope under pressure
- Ability to work effectively within a team with mínimal supervision and collaborate with others to achieve a goal
- Flexible approach to duties and be helpful where help is needed
- Experience working in a Service Desk / Helpdesk environment
- Experience working in Higher Education environment
