**Salary**: £51,213 to £56,157 (SCP 51 to 55)

An exciting new opportunity has recently been created within our re-launched Specialist Intervention, Health and Wellbeing (SIHW) Team. This is a critically important role both within the team and the organisation more widely. This specialist role has lead responsibility for ensuring the appropriate trauma informed psychological and mental health assessments, interventions and treatment are in place to achieve positive outcomes for all our young people. The post-holder will be required to work collaboratively with care health and education colleagues across the organisation, achieving a multi-disciplinary response to the needs of our young people. The post-holder will also provide clinical supervision and mentoring for our Assistant Psychologist along with other practitioners with the SIHW Team.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
As Clinical Psychologist you will report to the Specialist Intervention Health and Wellbeing (SIHW) Manager. You will have lead responsibility for ensuring all young people have appropriate psychological and mental health assessments with a particular emphasis on trauma and attachment practice. You will deliver interventions using a range of psychological assessment tools, and formulations. You will provide specialist clinical knowledge, support, and guidance to the relevant members of SIHW Team. You will ensure all psychological interventions are evidenced based. Delivery will be in line with ethical and professional standards as set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and the British Psychological Services (BPS) Code of Ethics and Conduct. Your knowledge will be informed by current research, practice standards and professional guidelines. You will provide supervision to the trainee/assistant psychologist and other multi-disciplinary practitioners in the team. You will provide advice and guidance on psychological care to other professionals, carers and families. As part of a multi-disciplinary organisation, you will actively contribute towards the training and support of staff involved in the delivery of specialist interventions to young people.

**Highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation** **and treatments**:

- Deliver the most effective assessments and interventions to meet the needs/profile of our young people.
- Lead responsible person to prepare formulations on/with all young people understanding past difficulties and identifying their strengths to work towards better futures
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, drawing on all relevant theoretical and therapeutic models, while understanding young people’s complex historical and developmental factors
- Exercise professional responsibility for the assessment, and treatment of young people on the psychological element of their care plans.
- Provide specialist psychological advice and guidance to Care, Education and health professionals
- Ensure appropriate referrals of young people who require CAMHS or other specialist services and contribute to these external meetings

**Provision of direct and indirect trauma informed interventions**:

- Expert lead on psychological processes trauma and attachment practice
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, drawing on relevant theoretical and therapeutic models, while understanding young people’s complex historical and developmental factors
- Lead in the running of therapeutic groups.

**Highly specialist Risk Assessment/Risk Management**:

- Undertake highly specialist risk assessments and risk management plans for all young people to ensure their safety and that of others
- Work collaboratively with Care and Education Teams, advising of appropriate risk and behaviour management strategies.
- Assess and review the psychological and emotional wellbeing of our young people, jointly with them and key people in their lives to inform care plans and risk management plans
- Provide professional advice to other staff in managing risk behaviours

**Teaching, Training and Clinical Supervision**:

- Provide professional advice, guidance and training to colleagues to promote understanding of psychological interventions as part of multi-disciplinary working.
- Provide clinical supervision/appraise and oversee the workload of Assistant/Trainee Psychologist(s)
- Provide placements and supervision for Doctoral and Masters Trainee Clinical Psychologists and other Applied Psychologists.
- Assist in the design and provision of specialist psychological services to our young people
- Maintain and develop personal skills in the area of professional and post-graduate training in assessment, formulation, treatment and clinical supervision
- Engage in clinical supervision as per professional guidelines
