**Job Purpose**:
- To work with the Duty Leader in order to maintain a safe environment for all pupils during the lunchtime breaks.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- To maintain orderly conduct in the canteen and outside areas.
- To maintain orderly conduct in classrooms during days of inclement weather.
- To promote school policy on discipline.
- To promote school policy on equal opportunities.
- To promote school policy on health and safety.
- To promote safeguarding policies and procedures.
- To be a role model for pupils treating them with respect and promoting school ethics and behaviour policy.
**Key Tasks**:
- Set out, clean and put away tables: sweep and clear floor of any debris.
- Follow the agreed arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils.
- Be discreet at all times. Maintain confidentiality.
- Control the dinner queue and the movement of pupils to and from the school dining area.
- Be responsible for the pupils when they are eating and ensure that table manners and behaviour in the dining area are acceptable.
- Supervise pupils queuing for toilets and respond to any requests for sanitary supplies.
- Encourage the pupils to keep good standards of hygiene e.g. always wash their hands after going to the toilet/before eating.
- Deal with minor accidents and injuries that occur on the school premises, although if in doubt find the Duty Leader or first aider.
- Occupy and supervise children when they have to stay indoors.
- Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene and first aid.
- Supervise and interact with pupils in the yard to encourage positive social interactions.
- Supervise and interact with pupils in the classroom during inclement weather.
- Ensure that equipment provided for activities in the yard is properly treated and safe for the pupils to use.

- Report incidents of unacceptable behaviour to the relevant Duty Leader, Deputy
Headteacher or Headteacher. Incidents may relate to pupils or staff.
- Liaise with staff regarding pupils’ excellent or inappropriate behaviour.
- Report incidents of identity-based bullying to the relevant Duty leader. Incidents may relate to pupils or staff.
- Participate in staff training opportunities and meetings to ensure regular professional development.
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
- Set high expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
- Report any concerns regarding safeguarding to the appropriate person.
