We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Therapy Technical Instructor to work with the Community Respiratory Team to deliver pulmonary rehab. You will work alongside an already established team who deliver both face to face and virtual pulmonary rehab with the opportunity to deliver home based pulmonary rehab.

The purpose of this job is to be a key member of the Community Respiratory Team, assisting the team in the management and delivery of a blended Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) service.

To undertake specific skilled support work to assist the physiotherapist in the treatment and rehabilitation of COPD patients.

To assist the Physiotherapist in the day-to-day running of PR classes.

Work is not always directly supervised but is evaluated and monitored daily. Access to qualified staff is always available if required.

To support the delivery of pulmonary rehab across the BLMK, therefore there will be a requirement to travel across localities.

As a highly skilled support worker, to assist the physiotherapist in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals and groups of patients in order to maximise their potential.

To support the Community Respiratory Team in delivering all aspects of the PR program as necessary to include: patient reviews, exercise assessment, education, psychological support and relaxation.

**To support delivery of all elements of the PR program**: namely
- face to face groups, virtual sessions both live and pre-recorded, and home exercise sessions.

To carry out individual and group treatment programmes as established and delegated in broad terms by the physiotherapist and be able to teach and demonstrate specific exercises and techniques to patients.

To monitor and analyse patient’s progress during and following treatment. This necessitates the ability to record, understand and interpret simple clinical observations e.g. blood pressure and pulse oximetry. Report back to the physiotherapist in an accurate and timely fashion.

To modify individual patients’ exercise programmes to meet their specific goals and needs as required, within the risk assessment parameters, defined by the Community Respiratory Team. Report back as appropriate.

When directed, to represent the physiotherapy team during home visits, analysing and reporting back the outcomes and discuss appropriate actions.

To assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid, informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.

To maintain up to date, comprehensive and accurate patient treatment records.

To have a sound working knowledge of the MDT and the availability of follow-up rehabilitation and treatment services. Make timely and appropriate referrals to MDT colleagues as directed by a physiotherapist.

To participate in the In-service training programme.
