St Albans, United Kingdom MacIntyre Charity Full time

**Are you looking for real job satisfaction? Do you have the right qualities to support children and young people who have learning disabilities?**

No two days are the same - this is so much more than just a job

You'll join us as a Support Worker in St Albans, working with young people who love to be kept busy trying new things and visiting new places.

What sort of thing might you be doing? One day you could be visiting the seaside and the next enjoying reading a good book with the boys.

Alex* loves visiting the farm, going to the library, reading stories with a cup of tea and hanging out in the sensory room.

Arnold loves to watch his favourite soaps, clothes shopping and listening to pop music.

Dave cannot get enough of getting messy, exploring in the garden and playing in the mud. Dave loves nothing more than tickles in the lounge and interacting with staff and playing in the park.

Jack enjoys doing puzzles, playing games on his iPad and loves his water play. Jack loves watching all his favourite Disney films and has even enjoyed a trip to the theatre.
- _Names changed for privacy_
- If all this sounds like a great day at work, then join us on the journey to support each of the young people in a way which makes sense to them and help them create lasting memories.

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week. We also have Relief (Bank) roles available at £9.10 per hour. (Relief posts support the permanent rota by completing shifts that are vacant due to staff absences.)

**About you**

Of course we welcome you if you have been a support worker or care assistant, but experience isn’t necessary. If you have the right attitude, share our values and are willing to learn, you’re likely to be a great fit.

We are looking for people who celebrate differences, and we strive to make all our staff feel included, valued and respected.

**About us**

Woodland View is five bedroomed children’s home supporting children and young people with learning difficulties, autism and complex needs. We believe in celebrating every achievement made by our young people in preparation for life as an adult.

In May 2021, Woodland View was rated as an ‘outstanding’ Children’s home by Ofsted.

**Training and Development**

At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of eLearning, face-to-face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.

But it doesn't stop there - throughout your career with us you will have access to our own dedicated in house Learning and Development team, Quality Specialists and HR Teams. These teams, along with your Manager, will provide you with opportunities to learn and develop professionally as well as enabling and supporting you to achieve professional qualifications and career progression opportunities - all free of charge.

**Pay and Rewards**

We provide a range of benefits to reward and thank our staff which includes:

- Six weeks' annual leave including statutory public holidays
- Workplace Pension scheme - MacIntyre will contribute 3% of your salary to all eligible employees
- MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme
- Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing

**How to apply**

We want our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and the people we support. As part of this commitment, our accessibility toolbar allows you a number of options: read adverts in another language (including Welsh for our Services located in Wales), change the font to Open Dyslexia, change the colours, and many others. Just click the button marked “Accessibility” at the top of the screen.
