- Do you want to make a real difference in protecting the local environment? We’re looking for great people to join our Field Teams. This is a vital hands-on role within the Environment Agency that is key to maintaining the West Midlands’ flood resilience.
- As a Field Team Member you’ll be working on a variety of different projects including the maintenance of watercourses and flood defence assets. You’ll also be required to carry out regular checks and inspections on equipment, tools, PPE and vehicles.
- You’ll predominantly be working outdoors in all weather conditions, carrying out tasks such as grass cutting, tree works, removing blockages from watercourses and trash screens, plus various small construction projects. The team
- Here at the Environment Agency our staff are at the heart of what we do. We protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood defence assets and responding to incidents across the West Midlands.
- Field teams have a range of technical skills they use to deliver watercourse maintenance, along with maintenance of food defence assets and construction projects. The team handle a variety of specialist equipment including plant and boats.

Experience/skills required
- We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude that enjoys working as part of a team, you will need to be organised at keeping your PPE, tools and equipment in good condition. It is also important that you have good communication skills in order to be able to communicate effectively with customers, partners and members of the public.
- Keeping our employees and the public safe is our top priority, an understanding of Site Health & Safety requirements would be desirable but not essential. All the necessary training to undertake the role will be provided including externally recognised qualifications in how to use specialist machinery and equipment.
- Confidence in using IT is essential as well as a willingness to learn the use of our inhouse systems.

- There is an expectation that you will live within 45 minutes’ drive of site. As such, you will be required to have a driving licence. A work vehicle and full PPE will be provided.
