Sidcup, United Kingdom NA Full time

**Overview**
My family is looking for a kind and dedicated person to befriend my elderly father.

He has Alzheimers, and lives in a care home, but his soft and gentle nature - and slow speech thanks to the disease - means that he's really struggled to settle in and make any friends there, and he is having such a tough time.

We try and go there as often as possible, but during the week while we're working, we'd really love someone who he can trust and enjoy spending time with can come and take him out for a short walk and maybe a cup of tea in the local cafe.

Ideally we would be looking for someone who could go every day Monday-Friday at a similar time, so that he can have it as part of his routine. It would also help reassure him about where he is living if he had an ally there to speak to every day.

My dad is (and was) a wonderful human - witty, kind, clever and mischevious. He is London born and breed and still capable of good conversation in the right setting with a calm and patient listener.

**Duties**
- Meet a kind and gentle elderly gentleman at a fixed time every day Monday-Friday for a cup of tea, a short walk and a chat for 1-2 hours.
- Support with his dementia care by employing appropriate strategies to enhance his comfort and security.
- Provide a sense of stability and routine.
- Keep family up to date each day.
- Create a supportive and respectful friendship with him, promoting his independence, autonomy and dignity.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in childcare, nursing home settings, or similar caregiving roles is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and patient care best practices is advantageous.
- Compassionate nature with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting him as needed.
