**JOB DESCRIPTION**

I am a young man with autism living at home with my Mum in Hawick. I have a learning disability,

epilepsy and am non-verbal, so you will need to take time to get to know me. I have an existing

team who provide support for me throughout the day from 9.00a.m until 4.00p.m, with an

occasional sleep-over. I have access to a day centre during the week and exclusive use of an indoor

space in central Hawick for use at the weekends. My support workers always work together in pairs.

I am currently looking for someone with occasional or part-time availability to join my existing team.

**MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Keeping me safe at all times.***
- Supporting me to be as independent as possible in all daily activities including eating &
drinking.***
- Supporting me to communicate effectively by having the skills, knowledge and competence

to communicate with me.
- Support me to access opportunities for growth, development and continued learning.***
- Always give me sufficient time and levels of support to complete activities.***
- Any other reasonable tasks as required.***

**PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES**
- Previous experienced of autism and severe learning disabilities.
- Experienced of epilepsy preferred.
- Experienced in moving and assisting.
- Must have lots of patience and be caring and sensitive to the problems disabilities can bring.***
- Honest, reliable and respectful of confidentiality.***
- Able to work well as part of a small team.***
- Ideally non-smoker who is relatively fit and able to provide hands on assistance.***
- Ideally driver with own car but not essential.***

**THE TERMS**
- Hourly Rate £11.00.
- 5.6 weeks Holiday pro rata.***
- Occasional or part-time hours by prior arrangement.***
- Occasional sleep-overs throughout the month - by discussion.***
- Shift patterns are organised a month at a time.
- Role involves 2 carers working together to support me at all times.
