Health Safety and Environmental Officer

We are looking to recruit a motivated and hands-on Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to join our clients manufacturing business based in Nelson, Lancashire.
This is an exciting opportunity for a HSE Officer to support the continued compliance and legislation of Health and Safety within the business.
The role will incorporate the following duties and responsibilities:
- Support the division on the implementation of the overall group Health and Safety Initiative and continue to ensure that all H&S legislation is implemented, and that the business complies with requirement.
- Building relationships with local management and employees to continually work on improving and developing a positive Health and Safety culture.
- Support local management in assisting and carrying out all types of Risk Assessment processes and ensure appropriate control measures are in place and implemented.
- Monitoring and planning training of all staff and the updating all training records.
- Writing and implementing Safe Systems of Work and associated Training Plans with management support and assist local management with training i.e. Toolbox Talks and other internal training programmes.
- Carry out and support local management in Accident Investigation and implementing control measures to prevent any reoccurrences and reporting RIDDOR when necessary.
- Conduct all new starter Health & Safety Inductions
- Facilities management
Skills/experience required:
- Previous H&S experience within manufacturing, warehousing, logistic (or similar industry)
- Hold a NEBOSH general qualification (or working towards a NGC)
- Ability to engage, influence and persuade at all levels.
- A pragmatic approach to health and Safety combined with excellent communication skills are essential for this role as you will be required to communicate with all operations at all levels across the business.
