**Propulsion System Integration Engineer**
Reports to: PSI Supervisor

**Job Summary**:
The role of an PSI Engineer calls for extensive Naval Marine Shipbuilding experience, plus familiarity with mtu products, such as the S8000, S4000, the S2000 and most specifically the 12V4000U83 (submarine engine).

The engineer is to have considerable experience with**shock and noise requirements for Naval Vessels.
**They are also to be experienced with the **mtu Propulsion Control Philosophy for complex propulsion systems**.
They will need to be capable of reviewing and commenting on the propulsion and supporting systems for mtu Propulsion packages within the Global Naval business. They will also be expected to provide technical
support for the design and integration of mtu products for the UK Navy new build and upgrade
projects. They should possess a proven ability to analyse complex propulsion systems, including
performance estimation, alignment and installation procedures, marine gears, shafting, propellers and waterjets, cooling systems, fuel supply, oil lubrication, and control/automation/data systems.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring that the applicable classification society and environmental requirements have been met and complied with in accordance with the specific project requirements as set out in the respective ship build specifications.
- Technical awareness of the propulsion systems including design, manufacture, integration, testing (including FAT/HAT/SAT) and finally handover.
- Assessing the propulsion systems (Engines, Propellers, Gearboxes and all their associated/subsidiary systems) for technical content, quality assurance and safety measures including Cyber Essential protection
- Defining and agreeing test plans and specifications for the propulsion systems
- To support installation inspections and to oversee STW and Commissioning
- Preparing and developing Software, Security and Safety Management plans
- Our Engineers are expected to work on various Naval Submarine Projects, within the UK, plus support the ongoing UK Navy Type Projects where necessary.

**Person Profile**:

- A good understanding of marine propulsion systems and/or the principles of shipbuilding, Naval sector knowledge would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with mtu products, such as the S8000, S4000, the S2000 and most specifically the 12V4000U83 (submarine engine).
- Experienced in propulsion system design and installation with testing in a Naval/Marine environment as an additional benefit
- Design knowledge of complex propulsion systems including the design of marine gearboxes, shafting, propellers and waterjets.
- Experienced with supporting systems for propulsion auxiliaries such as fuel, lube oil, cooling, combustion air and exhausts.
- Knowledge to an advanced level of Microsoft Office and understanding of multiple CAD systems/experience with Autocad and Pro Eng.
- You will be required to have, or gain **Full Security Clearance**:

- Full driving licence is desirable as some travel is required.
