Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board have an exciting opportunity to join the Learning and Leadership Academy in the expansion of their Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Team. We are looking for a Training Facilitator to co-deliver the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training for Learning Disability and Autism alongside experts with lived experience, to our health and care workforce.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death highlighted the need for health and social care staff to have better skills, knowledge and understanding of the needs of autistic people and those with a learning disability.

This is an amazing opportunity to influence how care is delivered by providing health and social care staff with the knowledge and skills they need to make a difference.

You will be joining a friendly, supportive and dedicated team who are passionate about making a difference for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

Role models exemplary behaviour in terms of conduct, attitude, performance, when delivering The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism.

Demonstrates ability to effectively support experts with lived experience co-trainers, ensuring they are fully included and supported in the delivery of the sessions, helping them to develop skills and confidence.

Undertakes a supervisory role for expert with lived experience co-trainers, ensuring appropriate support, leadership and coaching in line with organisational expectations.

Demonstrates the ability to co-deliver training sessions.

Demonstrates best practice facilitating training.

Recognises and addresses the needs of individuals and the group prior to, during and after the session.

Helps to keep participants and staff safe and confident in their surroundings and acts on safeguarding and health and safety concerns in line with organisation policies.

Appropriately challenges poor practice.

Keeps up to date with current and emerging thinking in health and social care practice, learning disability and autism, laws of consent (UK), The Mental Capacity Act 2005, The Human Rights Act 1998, The Autism Act 2009, Do not attempt cardiovascular resuscitation case law (DNACPR), LeDeR and other associated data.

Understand and respond to a range of complex queries and challenges from delegates during training, identifying the correct response from the range of factual and most up to date material available.
