**Safe System of Work (SSOW) Planner**

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) aims to deliver faster, longer, more frequent, and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.

The aim of the TRU Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats, and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.

The SSOW Planner role is responsible for producing the detailed planning and completion of Safe System of Work Packs. Interfacing with the delivery teams to ensure this is done in line with the programme requirements. The role itself requires dedication and an ability to work within a busy team environment providing essential support for the Alliance. This is an exciting opportunity and project for an experienced possession planner to join an alliance that is professional and hardworking with a great team spirit..

**What you will be doing**
- Ensure that appropriate alliancing behaviours and ‘best for project’ principles are always followed leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery of the Programme to the benefit of all Alliance Partners.
- Attend and participate in the weekly Race-card review and Whiteboard meeting.
- Attend planning meetings as required.
- Good understanding of Safety Documentation (Work Package Plans, Task Briefings, Permits to Dig, Hot Works permit, WONS, PICOP packs etc.).
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary works (PWay, S&T, OHL, Civils, GI, Surveys).
- Complete & distribute Safe Work Packs (SWPs) in accordance with Network Rail standards.
- Review documentation with Possession Planner and assist in collaboration requirements with the Planner, PIC/SWL and RM’s
- Following the RM’s review and feedback of the SWPs per period, ensure their findings and trends are informed and understood with appropriate lessons learnt for future planning & implementation.
- Collaborate with Persons in Charge (PICs) and Responsible Managers (RM’s) at the earliest opportunities possible to ensure integration and suitable operational knowledge is present to manage the risks in delivery, escalating any concerns where applicable..
- Working to deliver works in a complex rail environment and challenge protection hierarchy as required.
- Develop and maintain the plans for all engineering activity to meet project needs and be able to advise on them.

**Who we are looking for**
- SSOW planner qualification (essential)
- Valid PTS (essential) and valid COSS (desirable)
- Knowledge of GZAM system.
- Ideally have experience of railway and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience of preparing SSOW plans.
