**About the role**

We have some ambitious growth plans for Commercial Lending following on our success, but we need to ensure that these plans are delivered responsibly, which is where a talented Underwriter like you comes in.

This is a dynamic role, where you’ll get the opportunity to assess and approve a wide range of commercial mortgage types, including commercial investment to corporate buy-to-let and commercial owner occupied, and play a key role in the continued success of YBS Commercial Lending.

You’ll be empowered to make your own decisions, as well as partner closely with lending managers to ensure that they have appropriate support and independent risk and underwriting advice that enables us to deliver on YBS Commercial’s aspirations whilst also ensuring we make robust lending decisions.

You won’t just be looking at new proposals, you’ll also work closely with our portfolio management team on their account reviews, providing robust guidance and challenge to ensure we are identifying any concerns and protecting our position.

The majority of the team are based in Leeds, but we are working on a hybrid basis so you can be based anywhere in the UK but will need to be prepared for a degree of travel.

**About you**

You’ll have direct experience of underwriting corporate buy-to-let and / or commercial investment transactions and must have been previously held a personal underwriter mandate (for either BTL or Commercial Property Investment lending).

You’ll have a flair for detail and have experience is underwriting complex cases, with the ability to cut through the complexity and make sound decisions.

Away from the specific skills and experience, you’ll be confident communicator and have proven relationship building and influencing skills. You’ll be collaborative and be able to provide constructive challenge to lending proposals and the wider commercial lending team.
