**Activities Assistant (Part time)**

**Job Summary**

You will be part of a team that provides person-centred high standard of care to help elderly residents retain personal dignity and individuality. You will be passionate about enhancing the lives of residents, with a kind and supporting nature to encourage our residents to engage in our Social Calendar of events and enable them to continue with their own hobbies and interests.

You will have a genuine interest in working within a caring environment, possess good communication skills and be a team player. A clear security check PVG from Disclosure Scotland and two satisfactory references are essential.

The shift pattern you will work will require you to be flexible and will generally be as below:
Part-time up to 24 hours - 3 or 4 days out of 6 Monday to Saturday (Saturday am only)

**Responsibilities & Duties include: -**
- As part of the Activities Team, plan and implement a Weekly Activities Calendar appropriate to residents needs and requests
- Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere during activities
- Help and encourage residents to socialise and provide a variety of activities that cater for all tastes
- Collaborate with care team to tailor activities to individual needs and prererences
- Supporting residents with gardening activities in our newly redeveloped Walled Garden
- Supporting and encouraging engagement of all residents in organised Outings
- Assist residents with limited mobility making the best use of aids provided to enable engagement in activities and outings
- Assist with procurement and budgeting for entertainment, materials and outings
- Encourage Staff Members, Relatives and Friends to participate in the Activities Calendar.
- Help & encouraging continuity of hobbies and daily exercise.
- Report on residents’ general condition & wellbeing
- Attend/participate in training sessions (including online training) as required.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Experience of an elderly care setting is highly desirable
- A genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
- Effective communication skills to engage with residents, families and colleagues
- IT literate with administration skills
- A confident, friendly, patient and caring personality
- Passionate about the benefit of maintaining physical and mental activities in older age
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Previous experience in working with older people is preferred.
