**The Anchorage Care Home in Pulborough is looking for a Night Health Care Assistant - 36 hours per week**

**This role involves working every other weekend.**

**Job Description: Night Care Assistant**

Purpose of position: To provide night duty cover in the home and to undertake certain domestic duties which can be performed during the night hours.

**Principal Responsibilities**:
1. To carry out a thorough security check of the entire building at the commencement of the duty. This is to include such things as checking all residents, check and lock all external doors, check and close (if necessary) all windows, check and close **all** Fire Prevention doors (as directed). Furthermore to check all communal areas, empty all ashtrays in designated smoking areas, ensuring that there are no cigarette ends still alight and unplug any electrical appliances not in use. Repeated regular checks on the building are to be made at intervals determined by the head of the home, with special reference to fire prevention and security.

2. To carry out a regular check on service users at intervals determined by the head of home and with due regard for service users' privacy and dignity.

3. To answer emergency bells or calls from service users, assess the situation, deal with the service user seeking help and summon the senior care staff on call wherever necessary.

4. To assist service users who need help or reassurance.

5. To join with the day care staff in preparing service users for bed or assisting them in the morning, as directed.

6. To undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry/ironing, food preparation, table laying or dusting/cleaning, as directed, in the time available between attending to service users.

7. To maintain accurate notes and records on service users and to hand over all information that is relevant to the ongoing care of individual service users to day care staff.

8. Such other duties as may reasonably be required.
