Commercial and Procurement Improvements Manager

As a C&P Improvements Manager you will be responsible for leading on the development and delivery of continuous improvements in support of efficient, consistent delivery across the commercial and procurement function. Focus on enhanced systems, procedures,planning and capability to drive performance and deliver best in class outcomes in line with the Directorate vision.
To support organisational understanding of principles and compliance of procurement and commercial activity in relation to adherence to Public Contract Regulations, UK Legislation and meets the National Highways’ business plan objectives for the Division.Provide project leadership to ensure specific improvement deliverables are actioned in line with the C&P improvement plan and business delivery expectations.
To manage and develop a team of high performing commercial improvement professionals delivering value to the business and driving efficiency and performance. Provide day to day leadership by setting high performance expectations and supporting personal andprofessional development within the team acting as a role model for National Highways’ values & behaviours.
What you’ll be leading on
Manage a portfolio of projects or workstreams to develop, improve and update the systems utilised in the contract lifecycle and lead on the development of guidance, training and support offered to operational procurement teams, and the wider commercial community
Lead on development of corporate planning and policy development on behalf of the group, specifically developing material supporting corporate governance, strategy and policy development. Support the Corporate Transformation initiative
Provide leadership and professional advice on commercial initiatives as required by changes to UK Legislation, Public Contract Regulations, and other policy requirements. Specifically, you will support regulation reform over the coming 12 months
Encourage creativity and innovation in the team to embed a culture of continuous improvement seeking to add value to activities and outputs so that customers’ expectations are not just met but exceeded
Deliver effective line management and build a high performing team.
Drive continual improvement in health and safety performance demonstrating a strong understanding of National Highways Five Year Health & Safety Plan
To be successful
Proven project and/or contract management skills
Evidence of leadership and ability to encourage and raise capability of others
Should be fully MCIPS qualified (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) or equivalent
