Our amazing team in Paisley are recruiting for *male colleagues with a patient and empathetic personality, as well as a creative mindset and experience in care to join them as full-time Support Practitioners.
**For this role it is essential that you hold a full UK, manual driving licence with a minimum of 1 years’ driving experience as the young man has his own car.**
**The Role**
You will be joining our friendly team in a new service, supporting a young man with Autism and Complex Needs who is moving into his first home after living with his parents. As a Support Practitioner, your primary responsibility will be to assist a young man with all aspects of daily living. This includes meal preparation, medication management, attending appointments and activities, managing personal finances, providing support with moving and handling and personal care. With your guidance, the young man will be able to adjust to living independently. You will take an active interest in his hobbies, such as watching YouTube, cartoons on VHS, going on walks, and support him in exploring new opportunities.
Your role as a Support Practitioner will involve providing transitional support to help the young man learn and develop essential life skills, ultimately increasing his confidence and independence.
In our service we may use CALM which are physical intervention and escape techniques to ensure the safety of supported individuals, colleagues, and members of the public. Techniques include but are not limited to; posture and distance when supporting, understanding triggers and escalations signs along with guiding individuals away to deescalate situations.
**To be an amazing Support Practitioner, we’ll need you to**:
- Have an empathetic and caring nature.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence in using computers.
- Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own.
- Good organisational skills.
**Shift Patterns**
This role will include day shifts, sleepovers and waking nights on a 2:1 basis. As the gentleman is just settling into his new home shift patterns will be altered to suit his needs.
**The sleepover part of your shift is not included in your contracted hours so for every sleepover you cover you will be paid an additional £90.40.**
