We are looking for a highly experienced radiographer to lead the radiotherapy treatment team. The post holder will need to be organised and proficient at trouble shooting as well as being able to provide professional leadership to the team of radiographers. Experience of working at an advanced practitioner level would be beneficial.
We actively support local research, CPD, training and skills development and are continually expanding our engagement in national clinical trials. We have a commitment to Radiographer led services, with role advancement offered or actively being developed. There is an on-treatment review service led by a dedicated Macmillan treatment review Radiographer and a Macmillan Consultant Head & Neck Radiographer.
The department is equipped with three TrueBeam linear accelerators and an Xstrahl Superficial unit. RapidArc treatments are now routine with CBCT soft tissue matching. We have implemented SABR for lung and oligomets, and routinely use DIBH and Back up Gated treatments.
The post holder will be expected to lead on service development projects and to support staff with their own professional development. You should be an effective communicator and be able to network effectively with multi-professional colleagues within the trust and externally to aide in developing the service.
This role serves to lead the treatment section of the Radiotherapy Department. You will lead a team of radiographers providing treatment delivery. Responsibility will be shared with two other post
holders.
This is a key post within the department and the post holder will be expected to work autonomously having responsibility for the effective management of the treatment section ensuring an efficient and timely service.
The post holder will ensure patients receive a high quality, effective and safe service, which meets national targets, within the available resources. They will work in collaboration with the Women’s, Children Cancer& Diagnostics Division and the Head of Radiotherapy to develop the strategic planning of the service in line with national and Trust objectives. They will advise on therapeutic radiography issues both within the organisation and to support the implementation of the radiotherapy service specification within the London Cancer Network.
This post holder will work as part of the senior radiotherapy management team. They will be an expert resource, providing highly specialised advice on complex service developments that will be translated into direct clinical practice. The post holder will have direct input and influence to the overall performance of the Trust.
The post holder will also be required to share deputising for the head of Radiotherapy in their absence with the other superintendents.
North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton in Enfield, North London. This is a catchment area of around one million residents and covers a highly diverse population with affluent wards as well as areas of complex deprivation and serious health need. The workload is very varied, including Urology, Head and Neck, Breast, Lung and upper and lower Gastrointestinal Tract.
The radiotherapy department sits within oncology outpatients and treats approximately 1200 new patients p/a. Currently we use a Philips 16 slice wide bore CT scanner and three Varian TrueBeam Linacs running on Aria with Eclipse planning, and an Xstrahl superficial skin unit. The service is continually working to implement practice development and all staff are encouraged to contribute to the achievement of these. Opportunities are provided for staff development both through robust in-house training programmes and commissioned CPD funding. We have a head and neck consultant radiographer that is fully embedded within the service and are soon to introduce a urology advanced practitioner post. Additionally, we have implemented radiographer led skin mark up for superficial patients and are exploring the expansion of further advanced practitioner roles.
1. Management Responsibilities
- Operational leadership of the clinical treatment units ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, rules, regulations and departmental protocols in line with working practices as agreed by the Head of Radiotherapy.
- To work closely with other departmental superintendents to ensure the effective, efficient management of staff and other resources within the designated work area, leading by example, to deliver a precise, timely and cost effective service that meets the demands of a developing service.
