King’s Centre for International Education and Languages is a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. This brings together international pathway provision, pre sessional programmes, pre-UG summer courses, UG summer modules, UG language modules, bespoke language programmes for the community and our partners and academic skills provision for all King’s students.

**About King’s Foundations
King’s Foundations is a leading centre for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and pathway education across the HE sector, accredited by the British Council. As one of the largest providers of pathway education, we welcome over 2,500 students each year across our King’s International Foundation Programmes and our range of Pre-sessional Programmes. King’s Foundations is also responsible for the delivery of Academic Skills support across the university providing in person, online, and asynchronous programmes for students studying on all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at King’s. In addition, we offer an increasing number of short courses in English language learning and teaching.
Our mission is to support a diverse group of learners to achieve their potential at King’s, supporting students to become independent and inquisitive learners. King’s Foundations is home to approximately 80 permanent staff, growing to around 150 during our busy summer months. We champion a forward-thinking approach to education and take a digitally-enabled approach across all aspects of education. Over the last 6 years, the department has seen significant planned growth in support of King’s Vision 2029, with annual income of over £20m.
About the role
King’s Foundations is looking for a dynamic and experienced EAP professional to join our Pre-sessional and Short Courses team as Lecturer in EAP Education and Pre-sessional and Short Courses Coordinator.
King’s Foundations is a department within the Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) which provides high-quality international pathway, academic skills, and English language preparation courses for King’s students. Our mission is to enable and empower students to be the best they can be as part of a world-leading university. Valuing diversity, inclusivity, and cultural competency, we provide an outstanding student experience that integrates academic excellence with comprehensive support. We are a team of around 115 colleagues (increasing to over 150 in the summer months) committed to achieving this mission. The department has an annual turnover of around £30 million.
This newly created post is situated within the Pre-sessional and Short Courses team working alongside other Coordinators and associated colleagues. We are currently expanding our range of short courses and developing a portfolio of credit
- and non-credit bearing courses in English language, EAP, and Teacher development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on the development and delivery of a suite of English Language credit-bearing modules.
Contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of a range of Pre-sessional programmes and short courses.
Collaborate with other departments in CIEL and across King’s, including academic faculties, Libraries & Collections, and King’s Careers.
Provide innovative contributions towards high-quality learning and teaching that is sustainable, flexible, and adaptable.
This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract
About you
Essential criteria
- Educational Background: Relevant postgraduate degree (e.g. MA in TESOL / Applied Linguistics or other relevant area) and Level 7 teaching qualification (eg DELTA), plus Senior Fellow of HEA or commitment to obtaining it.
- Programme Development: Experience of the design, development and delivery of successful credit-bearing and other degree or pre-degree EAP programmes of study in a multi-lingual HEI.
- Programme Coordination: Experience of working with a team to manage large programmes of study,
