A&E Agency is looking for consultants to join a team in one of the largest NHS trusts and leading healthcare providers in the country. We are looking for highly motivated consultant led team delivering high quality to a population of over two million across London.
This NHS Trust is proud to be on its way to becoming an outstanding organisation, running five CQC rated 'good' hospitals in the City of London and East London. The organisation is also home to the London Air Ambulance and part of world's largest and strongest academic health sciences partnership. The Trust has three sites with an A&E departments, one major teaching hospital, one general hospital and a busy district hospital with innovative facilities such as its orthopaedic centre.
Over 150,000 patients attend the emergency department per year.
**_ Main Responsibilities_**
The DCC: SPA split is 7.5/2.5
The appointee will...
- play a key role in actively streaming emergency patients so that patients are treated in the most appropriate environment and by the most appropriate person
- be expected to participate actively in direct clinical management as well as overseeing care provided by junior medical and non-medical staff.
- also be responsible for patients admitted to the Clinical Decision Unit under the auspices of the Emergency Department.
- be responsible for the diagnosis and initial treatment and resuscitation of all emergencies.
- make arrangements for patients to be referred to the next most appropriate agency or to be discharged home
- attend the weekly consultant meetings, the monthly Clinical Governance meetings and other relevant Emergency Department meetings.
- be expected to participate fully in the postgraduate education of Junior Doctors at all levels, medical students and nursing staff.
- be responsible for the mentorship of a group of Junior Doctors and act as educational supervisor for nominated Specialist Trainees

- MBBS or equivalent
- A full GMC registration (with licence to practice)
- FRCEM or equivalent
- Appropriate level of experience in Emergency Medicine
- Completion of Specialist training in Emergency Medicine or within 6 months of CCT or equivalent
- ALS, ATLS, APLS and MIMMS provider or equivalent
