Trainee/ Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Are you a highly skilled registered professional who wishes to take on a new clinical challenge and develop into an advanced practice role? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for inspirational and motivated trainees to join our Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) team in Orthopaedics at Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust.
You will have extensive experience of working in an Orthopaedic setting as a senior nurse or AHP and the ambition to commit to a three-year training programme. Developing advanced clinical assessment skills, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload and assessing, treating, referring and discharging patients in your care, with support where required.
You will work collaboratively with our excellent nursing and senior medical teams in providing a patient-centered service, ensuring safe, efficient and timely flow of patients through the Orthopaedic departments.
The role of trainee ACP involves a programme of academic and work-placed based education, supported by an Educational Supervisor. You will be expected and supported to complete an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice via an apprenticeship route, undertaking a range of clinically-focused modules in line with the requirements for the role, including independent prescribing and clinical skills (if not already held). For the university element you will be required to produce evidence and certificates of a pass at GCSE or equivalent in math and English.

The trainee, working under supervision, will develop advanced knowledge and skill to meet the capabilities presented in the Multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England. It is expected that the trainee’s level of autonomy will increase to the point of independent practice within the specialty.
The practitioner will
- Use advanced knowledge and skills in to undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, make decisions based on clinical reasoning and initiate, evaluate and modify a range of interventions.
- Provide professional senior clinical leadership and support within the specialty multi professional team and across service boundaries.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
Essential
Professional registration with NMC/HCPC/GPC
Relevant degree, minimum 2:2 and willingness to work towards Masters level qualification
Evidence of relevant and recent study / CPD
Mentorship qualification or equivalent experience
Extensive demonstrable experience in speciality clinical area
Awareness of local and national health policy
Experience of implementing evidence-based practice
Experience of participation in clinical audit
