**Key Purpose of the Role**
- To drive profitable growth across the organisation and understand and define the long-term business strategy. Oversee the management of the estimating you are responsible for daily, and as such, be accountable for its performance to ensure that the company and client needs are always exceeded.

**Key Responsibilities & Core Mandatory Duties**
- Following a successful introduction, you will assume lead responsibility for all aspects of the estimating and support capabilities which are assigned to you.
- Support the structure to facilitate a design capability/checking for design and build enquiries.
- Create a natural extension of our existing successful estimating capability.
- The need to remain flexible and accommodating to the requirements and developments of all the various departments is essential.
- It is paramount that proper preparation, maintenance of records, programmes and assistance in presentations is an essential need.
- Ensure that all estimating activities are delivered to the agreed time/service/ specification/presentation.
- Meet Estimating Director and Bid Director weekly in the task to discuss tenders and progress.
- Sourcing and liaison with external resources for design, suppliers, and sub-contractors for quotations.
- Prepare well researched prime cost estimate from tender documentation.
- Manage and proactively support all commercial activities to ensure they reflect the requirements of the business and implement the agreed business plan to achieve current and future agreed performance targets.
- Utilise existing systems to maintain existing customers and develop new clients.
- You will assist with the development of a systematic sales plan which will achieve the quotation and sales targets in the estimating area of our business, to meet margins and capacities as detailed and agreed in the company budget.
- The area in which our business development is to occur involves primarily end users and their professional teams, where there is a commercial commitment rather than multi-bid tender situations.
- Full compliance with the company standards and expectation manual.

**Cost Control & Management**
- Support the final account production and negotiations throughout the project to settlement.
- Support procurement wherever necessary.

**Supply Chain Management**
- Ensure cross-referencing of the organisation’s variations to sub-contractors’ variations and correct pricing is being completed by the engineering department.
- Manage material and specialist sub-contract enquiries.

**Sales / Works In**
- Assist in evaluation of tenders for potential risk and exposure.
- Member of project launch/handover team.
- Attend tender settlement meetings to ‘mark-up’ prime cost.
- Attend client meetings with the team to discuss and ‘sell’ the bid. Work with management team on tender strategy.
- Carry out sales research and planning (researching new tender/opportunities through the use of the Builders’ Conference membership. Identify the project team, in particular main contractors, consulting engineers, architects, etc involved at tender stage).
- Management of sales database, inputting/updating project team details for each enquiry received in works in.
- Attendance will also be required at tender settlement meetings to enable all intelligence obtained on the particular enquiry to be tabled and provide input along with the team to ensure that the organisation’s submission exceeds the needs of the client.

**Enquiry Stage**
- Upon successful receipt of a new enquiry, it will be the Estimator’s responsibility in conjunction with the Bid Director, Estimating Director, and the management team to obtain all necessary intelligence associated with said enquiry.
- This will include, but not limited to, identifying all members of the professional team, including personal visits, investigation and identifying all known main contractors, in the case of multi bids and identifying our competitors.

**Estimating**
- Assist in preparation and production of presentations.
- Checking and logging all enquiry documents onto the enquiry log;
- All pages or specification/preambles to be listed.
- Missing pages or drawing to be notified to client.
- Materials and sub-contract enquiries;
- Produce sub-contract enquiries, scheduling enclosed information.
- Arrange to copy relevant drawings and specification pages and collate (management of).
- Produce material enquiry, scheduling enclosed information.

- Produce enquiry register and log all outgoing enquires and incoming quotations.
- Chase outstanding sub-contractors and suppliers quotations.
