The Camera Enforcement Unit has an exciting opportunity for you to join as a Camera Operator in a challenging and rewarding team. The position is on a full-time, permanent basis with seasonal shift work, including weekends. As a Camera Operator, you will be working across the West Midlands and will work alone within the confines of an enforcement vehicle at the side of the road, detecting speeding and other offences such as not wearing a seatbelt or using a mobile phone.

You will work unsupervised and will be required to undertake manual handling of equipment necessary to the role. You will require the right attributes for the physical and emotional resilience that is needed to deal with challenging situations in the course of your duties. You will also have to assist with the adjudication of camera detected offences.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Undertake speed enforcement checks using mobile speed detention cameras along with average and variable speed cameras
- Liaise with officers undertaking enquiries in relation to camera offences.
- To make statements, produce evidential media copies of speed enforcement offences, collect and record associated documentation of evidence and attend court when necessary.

**Essential**
- Must have the ability to lift and pull heavy objects to weights of 23 kilograms and have the physical capabilities to undertake the replenishing and setting up of camera equipment.
- Be highly motivated to ensure effective performance when working alone unsupervised
- Must be capable of absolute discretion in handling matters of a personal, sensitive and confidential nature. It is desirable for the applicant to have previous experience in Road Traffic Legislation or enforcement
- It is essential that you have a full UK Driving Licence

**Skills and Experience**
- Someone who can demonstrate excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, able to manage their workload to meet tight deadlines and work without supervision for extended lengths of time using their own initiative.

**Hours**:Seasonal shift work, which will include earlies, lates and weekends.

**Vetting**:Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

**Medical**:Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.

**Location**:The role is presently at Wednesbury, but is likely to move to Dudley in late 2025
