**Overview**:
We’re looking for an ambitious Design Engineer to join our in-house Design Team at our company in Poole. You will report to the Chief Technical Officer and work collaboratively with the Development and Product teams. The role will consist of working to createelegant, robust, and functional designs for new products and maintaining design for an existing product offering. This role will work collaboratively with other key departments to ensure the physical design provides an appropriate space and environment forinternal components.

**Main Duties And Key Responsibilities**

Main duties include, but are not limited to:

- Fluent 3D CAD skills in Solidworks or similar
- Creation of 2D technical drawings ensuring product design is elegant, robust, functional, and cost-effective.
- Maintenance design for existing products and dealing with obsolescence.
- Develop the appearance, mechanical and physical design of new products.
- Oversee prototype and production manufacturing to include assisting Production Engineering with prototype assembly and refining designs to improve manufacturability.
- Work closely with other engineering functions to ensure the physical design provides an appropriate space and environment for internal components.
- Working with a brief from Product Management and other stakeholders, develop a range of initial product concepts for review.
- Graphic design and iconography for product labelling, software, and product marketing.
- Work with suppliers and procurement to obtain quotations for prototypes, and product assemblies and to optimize tool and unit production costs. Some site visits may be required.
- Manage suppliers to ensure product matches initial concept and design
- Contribute to the overall product Bill of Materials.

**Experience & Qualifications**:
Essential:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or design discipline
- Experience in the design and manufacture of plastic mouldings, sheet metal, glass, and integration of electronics
- Experience in working with contract manufacturers
- DFA/DFM and Design for BOM

Desirable:

- Environmental IP design preferable but not essential
- Packaging Design preferable but not essential
- Adobe CC skills are preferable

- Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills.
- Able to communicate ideas and concepts naturally and with precision.
- Willing to travel nationally when required (target 10% or less)
- Proficient in using technologies such as Teams to extend your presence and vision across a highly distributed team
